I was at school with Sheila O'Connor - Mother Mary Francis - who was Abbess in this Monastery since 1974. I phoned and was told that she is "somehwere else" - WHERE?! No information. The person answered the phone sounded like a moron
I was born and brought up in Nottingham and attended Our Lady's when a child. I have been gone for many years but returned recently to visit family. I called at the Convent as my parents were married in Bulwell and came to the Convent on their wedding day to be blessed by Mother Clare, the Abbess at the time. Mother Mary Francis and she has been a friend to me and my family over so many years - since 1954! I visited Bulwell last month and came to the Convent but was told she was too unwell to see me. Mother Mary Francis has left the Convent since January 2010 and is now in the Convent of Poor Clares in Crossbush, Arundel. She had brain surgery and has been very unwell. I went to the Convent to ask for news and the Sister at the door said she would pass on my greetings but would not give me any information. I have contacted her in Arundel and she is very distressed as she tells me her Monastery has been taken over by Sisters from Ellesmere,
Hi. So good to be able to look at parish news from afar after my move here. It is strange not having Fr. Paul as PP but hope Fr. Gerry settles and is happy in the parish. Does anyone have an address for Mother Francis of the Poor Clares? Email or home address? I came to visit at the Convent as I've known Mother Francis since 1977 and the Sister at the door would not give me any information. I was surprised to see the Convent looking so neglected.
I have been a parishioner in Bulwell and recently moved. It is so good to keep in touch with what's happening. I was "home" recently and spent time in the parish and catching up. Lots of changes!! No Fr. Paul! No Mother Mary Francis and Sister Margaret! It was sad actually that these things change and the parish do not think to question WHY???!! Perhaps someone should be questioning!!
We'd just like to wish Fr Gerry a very warm welcome and hope you settle in well,we look forward to getting to know you. From Sam,Matt,Dylan and Megan, the Wood family!
