Gospel Thought for 26th October 2021

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke 13: 18-21

Jesus said, “What is the kingdom of God like? And to what should I compare it? It is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in the garden; it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air made nests in its branches.” And again he said, “To what should I compare the kingdom of God? It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour until all of it was leavened.”

The Gospel of the Lord

Reflection:

Jesus explains about the Kingdom of God in parables to help us and to explain to us something understandable. It is not possible to comprehend the Kingdom of heaven before the time of Jesus.

The use of parable and images of our real life help us also to know that the Kingdom of heaven is near us, or better still, it is with us. We can see it in the smallest things of life like the smiling of a child, the wisdom of the elderly, the beauty of nature, etc.

Our duty is to live fully beginning now till we see God face to face.
