Feast Day of Our Lady of Lourdes and the world day of prayer for the sick.

On the 11th February 1858 Our Lady first appeared to 14-year old Bernadette Soubirous. Later, Bernadette, under pressure from her parish priest, asked her, “Who are you?” and heard from her own lips, “I am the Immaculate Conception”. In 1992 Saint Pope John Paul II instituted the ‘World Day of Prayer for the Sick’ to be held on the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. I would like us as a parish to mark this day with a Mass at midday during which the Anointing of the Sick will take place. I would like to invite all of our sick and housebound parishioners and friends to this Mass to share in this wonderful celebration, asking God’s blessing and anointing on all who are sick.  Soup and sandwiches will be served in the hall after Mass – a time for us all to meet.  If you need transport and support in getting to this service, please contact Breege in the parish office and we will organise transport to pick you up and take you home. Please come along and join us! Fr John
