Gospel Thought for today – 27th March 2020

Friday of the Fourth Week in Lent 2020

Dear Friends,

United with each one of you in prayer and love. I have remembered you in my Mass today. The Mass Intention, was for the soul of Arlean Theo, RIP.

Gospel Reading from Saint John 7: 1-2, 10, 25-30.

After this Jesus went about in Galilee. He did not wish* to go about in Judea because the Jews were looking for an opportunity to kill him. Now the Jewish festival of Booths* was near. But after his brothers had gone to the festival, then he also went, not publicly but as it were* in secret.
Now some of the people of Jerusalem were saying, ‘Is not this the man whom they are trying to kill? And here he is, speaking openly, but they say nothing to him! Can it be that the authorities really know that this is the Messiah?* Yet we know where this man is from; but when the Messiah* comes, no one will know where he is from.’ Then Jesus cried out as he was teaching in the temple, ‘You know me, and you know where I am from. I have not come on my own. But the one who sent me is true, and you do not know him. I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me.’ Then they tried to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him, because his hour had not yet come.

• Notice what were you thinking and feeling as you read the Gospel?
Jesus is in great danger. He moves about in secret. What must that have been like for Jesus? Have you ever had to move about in secret? The People were speculating Jesus being the Messiah. Then Jesus cries out in the temple that he had been sent by God. If you were sat in that temple, what would you have thought……………………………………..?

• Pray as you are led for yourself and others
Lord, I too give myself to your timing and the events you have destined in my life. Let me be true to you and embrace your will for me. Open my hearty to…………………………….

• Listen to Jesus
It was my glory to be crucified in shame before women and men. I did it for love of you, how do you experience that love of Jesus……………………….?

• Ask God to show you how to live today.

Let me make a small or great sacrifice in love today, to who and how will you make that sacrifice of love……………………………………………/

United in love and prayer with you all
