Gospel thought for Sunday 19th April 2020

2nd Sunday of Easter Gospel 20: 19-31

My friends I have not given you the full text of the Gospel. I would invite you to look at the 5 key points of today’s Gospel and in its context where do you see the Mercy of God?

1. John 20:19-20: appearance to the disciples and showing of the wounds
2. John 20:21-23: gift of the Spirit for the mission
3. John 20:24-26: special appearance to Thomas eight days later
4. John 20:27-29: dialogue with Thomas
5. John 20:30-31: the aim of the Gospel according to John

The Gospel of the Lord

The Mass intention is for Mary Burrows, RIP and C B

My fiends on this Divine Mercy Sunday, when did you experience Jesus’ Mercy in your own life and how does that Mercy impact on you and all you do as you reflect on the points below?

The personal question/action for today:

• How is my faith relationship with God on this Second Sunday of Easter?

• How has my faith been tested by trials?

• How have I experienced the gift of faith by others’ sharing their faith with me?

• In what ways have I built up the community of faith by my sharing my faith with others and celebrating with them the presence of the Risen Lord Jesus?

• What further steps can I take to live out my call to be an ambassador of Peace to others today? This week?
