Gospel Thought for Friday 1st May 2020

Friday 3rd Week of Eastertide Gospel Reading – John 6: 52-59

The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying,
“How can this man give us his Flesh to eat?”
Jesus said to them,
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
unless you eat the Flesh of the Son of Man and drink his Blood,
you do not have life within you.
Whoever eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood
has eternal life,
and I will raise him on the last day.
For my Flesh is true food,
and my Blood is true drink.
Whoever eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood
remains in me and I in him.
Just as the living Father sent me
and I have life because of the Father,
so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.
This is the bread that came down from heaven.
Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died,
whoever eats this bread will live forever.”
These things he said while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.

The Gospel of the Lord

The Mass intention for Dr G M

Two of the, qualities which are the hallmarks of God are “Loving Kindness” and “Enduring Fidelity”. These two qualities are reflected in the shortest psalm in the Book of the Psalms – Psalm 117.

We have the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Jesus wants His followers to be able to be in communion with Him and to feed on Him. This will give them and us life and eternal life. It will enable Him to be with them and us, enduring faithfully as their source of nourishment and life. As we feed of the table of the Lord may we too encounter those two qualities “Loving Kindness” and “Enduring Fidelity”.

• How have I experience the “Loving Kindness” and “Enduring Fidelity” of GOD?

• How can I deepen my relationship with Jesus who desires that I feed on Him the Bread of Life?
