Gospel Reading – John 16:12-15

Jesus said to his disciples: “I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth.

He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.

Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.”

Reflection:
Jesus in today’s Gospel presents us with the Holy Spirit as the ‘Spirit of Truth’. Jesus is trying to instil in his disciples the importance to believe in the ‘Truth of the Holy Spirit’. We see the tenderness of Jesus in trying to educate and empower his disciples, but its with great difficulty they slowly get the message. Jesus treats us no differently, when we don’t always understand his message he never gives up on us. Take courage from today’s Gospel.

• We may give up on Jesus but he will never give up on us?
