Thursday 16th July Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Prayer:

O most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel, fruitful vine, splendour of Heaven, blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in this my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me herein that you are my Mother. O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to succour me in this necessity; there are none that can withstand your power. O show me herein that you are my Mother. Our Lady, Queen and beauty of Carmel, pray for me and obtain my requests. Sweet Mother, I place this cause into your hands. Amen.

Gospel – Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus said: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

Reflection:

In Saint Matthew’s Gospel today we see how Jesus calls the people to himself and tells them that if they believe in him he will support them. The yoke that each one of us has to carry is an easy one, because of our faith and thrust in the person of Jesus. Jesus alone will make the burden lighter to carry. True faith and trust is what we must have and that faith and trust is demonstrated in the way we live out our lives.

  • Is there anything you need to change to live your life better?
  • Is your faith and trust in Jesus unquestionably?
